The mountfield 1538h has a hydrostatic automatic transmission which is very easy to use. To move forward simply push the forward pedal down and the more firmly you press the faster the mower will go. For reverse just press the reverse pedal, you can change from forward to reverse instantly so manoeuvrability on the machine is excellent.the mountfield 1538h is driven by a mountfield st500 engine which is used on the majority of mountfield lawn garden tractors.
